How to Prepare for a Virtual Interview

Welcome Back!

This is the perfect opportunity to check in with your TRIO SSS Specialist and peer mentor. Also, enjoy a few refreshments while you meet. Don’t miss out!

FAFSA and Scholarship Application Workshop

Attend this workshop to get all the information you need to complete your financial aid forms and apply for scholarships.

Career Fair Prep: Q&A with Amanda Reil

The Spring Career Expo will be completely virtual! Career fairs will take place each Thursday in February from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. Students must register in CAREERLINK to meet with the employers. If you plan to attend any of the Career fairs, join this Q &A session where an advisor from the Career Center will provide a demonstration of CAREERLINK and answer any questions you may have.

Virtual Affirmation Journal Workshop

An affirmation is anything you say or think. It’s believed that when positive affirmations are repeated over and over again, they begin to take charge of your thoughts and change your pattern of thinking. TRIO SSS participants are invited to participate in a virtual affirmation journal workshop with Artist Nichole Rae. Participants will write 108 personal I AM Statements, then collage the front cover of a journal with collaging paper, washi tape and oil pastels.

All materials will be provided in a kit, and is yours to keep to continue the process of affirmation journaling.

Biological Sciences hosts a Q&A session on undergraduate research opportunities. Take advantage and get involved in undergraduate research.

How to File Your Federal Tax Return

Join this very important workshop to discuss the steps to file a tax return. Learn about your tax filing status, how to complete IRS tax forms, different filing options, tax preparation software, and tips to make the process less complicated. What do I do if I owe money? We will discuss that too, as well as answer any questions you may have.

March Events

United Collegiate Women’s Leadership Conference

TRIO SSS is proud to sponsor at least two participants to attend this virtual leadership experience. You must sign uphere to enter your name in a drawing for a chance to participate. Selected participants will be announced and registered on February 1st.

Bonanzaville (Career Development/Exploration)

Bonanzaville is a museum reflecting the history and culture of the early settlers of the Red River Valley. Join this activity, to not only tour the indoor museum, but to also take a look behind the scenes of the operation. First we will enjoy a brief program by the curators and collection staff members. Then, the Executive Director will visit with us to discuss the nuts and bolts of the organization: historical research, accurate storytelling, archiving artifacts, fundraising, budget planning, and program management, etc. Get an idea of how Bonanzaville (or any non-profit business) is maintained. Masks must be worn.

April Events

April is Financial Literacy Month!

Look for scavenger hunt items all month long on social media. TRIO SSS participants will have a chance to win prizes.

Join this workshop to learn about credit, your credit score and how it affects you as a consumer.
