Welcome to Student Support Services at NDSU
Tutoring is offered in an individual setting. General subject areas are accounting, biology, chemistry, computer science, English, engineering, mathematics, physics, psychology, statistics, and study skills. Tutoring sessions provide more learning opportunities for the student who arrives prepared for the session. The tutor will do their best to answer your questions and explain the material; the more prepared you are to ask questions the better the tutor will be able to address them.
Everyone can use strategies for more effective note and test taking, and who wouldn't like to improve their reading speed and comprehension? Basic computer skills, study skills, and reading improvement classes, taught by Student Support services instructors are offered every semester. Course credit is optional. (Look under Education in the NDSU Registration Schedule) Small class sizes allow the instructor to focus attention on teaching you.
SSS students can take our courses at no cost to them. However, if a participant wishes to take any of our classes for credit, you will need to officially register and pay the NDSU tuition and other fees for one-credit. All of our courses are graded on an A-F scale.

The foundation of SSS rests on on-going individual academic guidance by our SSS Academic Advisors. Academic guidance is not intended to take the place of your faculty academic advisor but to supplement your academic efforts. SSS advisors provide assistance with all aspects of educational planning and scheduling for the semester including:
- Monitoring your academic progress through the use of Mid-Semester Reports
- Brainstorming course selection and making long term academic plans
- Providing strategies for maintaining and improving your GPA
- Helping with study skills
- Assisting in signing up for tutoring
- Referrals to additional campus and community services
SSS Advisors can assist students in coping with the challenges of college. Advisors assist students in their transition to NDSU, focus conversations on vocation and career goals, as well as preparing to attend graduate or professional school. We provide support, encouragement, advocacy, and appropriate campus and community referrals. SSS works in collaboration with the Counseling Center and Career Center to provide the best available services to our students.
