Visual Arts

 


The Department of Visual Arts is fully accredited by NASAD and offers several professional degree opportunities; the Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Science, as well as design and studio arts minors. 

We have emphasis areas that support students launching into careers in industry and job-ready fields such as graphic design, illustration, and art education. We also provide a challenging and inspiring atmosphere for students preparing for graduate school or life as an arts professional. 

Skills you will develop no matter what your emphasis area includes:

Digital design proficiency utilizing the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and After Effects

Development of long-term independent creative research projects

A range of creative strategies allowing students to transform ideas into visual statements

Professional development tailored to each emphasis

Community engagement

Technical skills in both two and three-dimensional hand processes

Design and Art related oral communication skills

Critical Thinking and Analysis

Arts professional leadership skills

Integration of ideas into digital and social platforms

Exhibition design and curatorial writing
