Who: Christen Jackson, Major: Animal science, Hometown: Bismarck, N.D.

What do you recall from being a new student on campus?

“As a new student on campus, I remember trying to find organizations that I fit in with as well as those that were active on campus. Moreover, I wanted to meet many different individuals and make lots of friends. I remember thinking this was a great place for me to start new and to be myself.”

Favorite experiences:

“First of all, my favorite experiences would have to be Homecoming. It is so exciting to see the campus and community come together with Bison Pride and fill up the Fargodome cheering on our football team. Also, it is great seeing familiar faces come back to Fargo for a weekend filled with fun events. Additionally, I enjoy the ’families’ one creates with their friends from organizations they are involved in.”

Future plans:

To earn master’s and doctoral degrees. Jackson wants to teach at the university level, coach a dairy judge team and perhaps work in the animal health pharmaceutical industry.

Groups:

College of Agriculture Ambassadors, Bison Dairy Club, Judging Club, Saddle and Sirloin Club, Livestock Judging Team, Meat Animal Evaluation Team, Dairy Judging Team, Kappa Delta Sorority.

Advice:

“College is a place for you to start new with a clean slate. Don’t be afraid to be yourself and to truly do what you enjoy. No matter what, I can guarantee, you will find someone else who enjoys the same things you do. Don’t be shy, go introduce yourself to others; I am sure they are just as nervous as you! Get involved right away in several organizations. Attend football games and other athletic events. Additionally, go to other events that are hosted by campus attractions. Learn time management skills! Lastly, just enjoy every ounce of time you have being a BISON!”.
