Who: Stephanie Falkers, Major: Landscape Architecture, Hometown: Lino Lakes, Minn.

What do you recall from being a new student on campus?

“I’m from the Twin Cities, so I was expecting a big town feel when I came to campus. I remember the highest buildings I saw were the High Rises and being very shocked about the small-town feel that I was coming to. Once I started school, I realized the small campus was nice and I could see people I knew and remembered from classes. That gave a more comforting feel than anticipated.”

Favorite experiences:

“I love being involved. I didn’t get involved until my junior year. I got to know people that way and further that community feel – to know people not only within my major, but outside of it.”

Future plans:

Falkers has interned for the City of Fargo for two years and will continue to work there this summer. She plans to go on to earn master’s degrees in landscape architecture and urban planning.

Groups:

Campus Attractions, American Society of Landscape Architects, College of Engineering and Architecture Ambassadors, Sigma Lambda Alpha, Tau Sigma Delta, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars

Advice:

“Take as many opportunities as you can. You never know who you will meet or what door it will open for you in the future.”
