2018 ND WRRI Fellowship Program

At this time, the Institute Directors have been instructed by the USGS, the funding source, to plan on Congress funding the Institutes fully and on a 104b (Fellowship program for us) in FY18. We may have to modify the proposal later depending on what the Congress does regarding funding.

Eligibility

Scholarship Duration and Amount

Full year research: March 1, 2018 to February 28, 2019
One semester plus Summer: 7.5 months, May 16, 2018 to December 31, 2018
Summer research: 3 months, May 16, 2018 to August 15, 2018

Stipend amount: $800 to $1,000 per month for M.S. students and $1,000 to $1,400 for Ph.D. students depending on funding availability.

Each year, the institute must wait for the Congress and the President to approve the USGS budget with the National Water Institutes program funding included in it.

The general criteria used for proposal evaluation include: scientific merit, originality of research, research related to state, and extent of state or local collaboration and/or co-funding.

Application Deadline and Submission

Applications are due by 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2017. The proposals will be reviewed by a panel of faculty and state water resources research professionals. Announcement of awards will be made by early January.
