The Dakota Alternative Beef Cow Systems Symposium will provide up-to-date research and information for farmers and ranchers interested in alternative production practices due to limited perennial pastures and rangeland. The one-day event is offered at two in-person locations with one virtual option. Dates and locations are:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 6, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Huron Event Center, Huron, SD
  • Wednesday, Feb. 7, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Jamestown Civic Center, Jamestown, ND, or virtually through Zoom

Topics include:

  • Feeding strategies to replace forage
  • Creep-feeding calves in confinement systems
  • Alternative grazing strategies that increase adaptability
  • Trade-offs of alternative cow-calf systems compared to perennial pasture-based cow-calf systems

The cost of the event is $25 and includes a copy of the Feb. 7 recording. To register for one of the in-person events or to receive the Zoom link, visit https://agext-northdakotastate-ndus.nbsstore.net/dakotas-alternative-beef-cow-systems-symposium
