Beef production tour offered during CREC Field Day July 14

North Dakota Agricultural Weather Network (NDAWN), New World screwworm (NWS), fly control, cattle abortion, and research results are some of the topics scheduled for the beef production Field Day tour on July 14 at the Carrington REC.

The beef production tour is one of four tours offered during the morning of the field day. Other tours include agronomy, horticulture, and organic/sustainable agriculture. An afternoon tour will focus on emerging technologies including information related to spray drone applications, plasma activated water from a Green Lightning system, what’s new at the Grand Farm, and others.

  • New World screwworm update - Ethan Andress, DVM, state veterinarian, North Dakota Department of Agriculture
  • Exploring the life cycle of a fly - Patrick Beauzay, entomology research specialist, NDSU Department of Plant Pathology
  • Fly control in a cow herd - Jake Galbreath, DVM, Extension Veterinarian, NDSU Department of Animal Sciences
  • Proteins for cattle - Pauliane Pucetti, post-doctoral research fellow, NDSU Department of Animal Sciences
  • Abortions in North Dakota cow herds - Quynn Steichen, DVM, MS, DACVP, anatomic pathologist, NDSU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory
