Postdoctoral Researcher

Na Wu

Na Wu received her PhD in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from the University of Florida in 2018. She joined the group in 2019 as a visiting researcher. Her work in Pourhashem's group focuses on process simulation and techno-economic assessment of a variety of biobased paint and coating monomers and polymers including oil-based latex paints and lignin-based resins.

Visiting Researcher

Maryam Safaripour

Maryam's interdisciplinary research focuses on the life cycle environmental impacts of making biocomposite from fiber extracted from wheat bran. She studies the full wheat grain to flour system and investigates whether using wheat bran byproduct for polypropylene replacement would result in environmental benefits. Maryam is completing a PhD degree in Agroecology.

Graduate Students

Shokoofeh Ghasemi

Shokoofeh joined Pourhashem's group as a PhD student in Fall 2019. Her research focuses on process simulation, environmental and cost assessments of oil-based resins and polymeric materials. Shokoofeh has a bacheor's and master's degree in chemical engineering.

Ramsharan Pandey

Ramsharan joined Pourhashem's group as PhD student in Fall 2019. His research focuses on environmental and cost assessment of lignin-based resins. Ramsharan has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in Agricultural and biosystem's Engineering.

Past Students

Mayur Ukey

Mayur graduated in Chemical Engineering from University of Pune, India in 2012. Prior to joining NDSU he worked in the Paints, Coatings and Ink Industry marketing range of raw materials. He is currently conducting research on the life cycle assessment of bio-based products (e.g. coatings) which are possible replacements to fossil fuel derived products. His goal in life is to prepare the world for the post-oil era.

Undergraduate Researchers

Amanda Lee

I am from Southeast Wisconsin and I will be graduating from Minnesota State University Moorhead in May 2019 with a BS in Chemistry. I am currently doing research involving solvents used in polymer production. The goal of my research is to assess the toxicity and environmental impacts of these solvents using software modeling. My findings will provide decision making information for choosing a solvent that can reduce the impact of polymer industry.
