Class Notes


  • Steve Peck, BArch ’92 architecture, has been promoted to associate principal at Klai Juba Wald Architects in Las Vegas, Nevada.
 He is responsible for managing large-scale integrated resort projects throughout the United States. Since joining the firm in 1996, he has participated in many large casino resort projects, such as the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood and Tampa, Florida; SKY Las Vegas; Cannery Hotel and Casino in North Las Vegas; and Indiana Live! in Shelbyville, Indiana.
  • Bethany Rose Lutovsky, MA ’16 communication, was recognized for her master’s thesis, titled “Romantic relationships and social media use: The emergence and management of relational dialectics,” being listed among ProQuest's 25 Most-Accessed Dissertations and Theses during December 2016. Her thesis is one of the most-accessed of 2 million full-text graduate works across all subject areas, based on total downloads from ProQuest’s global database.
  • Robert Murray, 43, BS ’97 mechanical engineering, was an engineer with Nine Mile Point Nuclear Facility. He lived in Cicero, New York.

  • Marilyn (Laude) Hawkinson, 81, BS ’86 sociology/criminal justice, MS ’89, family economics, was a legal secretary. She lived in Apache Junction, Arizona.
  • Jerold Nelson, 77, BS ’61 psychology, was a lawyer for 40 years, including 36 years when he maintained an office in the Minneapolis Grain Exchange. He lived in St. Paul, Minnesota.
  • Paul Bjerke, 33, BS ’14 mathematics, lived in Fort Collins, Colorado.
  • Gregory Seltveit, 66, BS ’77 construction engineering, MBA ’83, business administration, taught construction management in NDSU's College of Engineering. He also worked for Ulteig Engineering of Fargo before being a project manager for Commonwealth Associates in Michigan. He later was co-owner of CM of North Dakota, and eventually co-owned two Batteries Plus stores in Florida. He lived in Sebring, Florida.
  • Ruth (Swenson) Stotz, 91, Diploma ’47 Bismarck Hospital School of Nursing, was a nurse for Bismarck Evangelical Hospital, now known as Sanford, and also took on private nursing duty. She lived in Bismarck, North Dakota.
  • Marvin Miller, 79, BS ’59 arts and science, was a retired coach and educator. He lived in Rochester, Minnesota.
