The firm's chief executive officer, Dean Atchison, was named a Midwest finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
- Francis A. Schirmer Jr., 86, BS '58 mechanical engineering, worked for the Shell Oil Co. before joining Koch Industries of Pine Bend, Minnesota. He lived in Burnsville, Minnesota.
- Lowell W. Syverson, 87, BS '57 mechanical engineering, worked for FWD, Minneapolis Moline and Caterpillar. He was a retired captain in the Air Force Reserve. He lived in Minneapolis.
- Don W. Johnson, 82, MS '70 educational administration, was a teacher and school principal in Montana before returning to North Dakota to operate a farm. He lived in Valley City, North Dakota.
- Elaine (Nelson) Houske, 85, FS '47 nursing, lived in Paynesville, Minnesota.
- Burton Pfliger, BS '85 animal sciences, was elected president of the American Sheep Industry Association during the organization's annual convention in Reno, Nevada. He is a third-generation sheep rancher, with a flock of about 400 ewes. He chairs the Missouri Slope Wool Pool in Bismarck, North Dakota.
- Shannan (Hohbein) Libak, 43,BS '97 psychology, was a home décor manager at Scheels in Fargo. She lived in Hawley, Minnesota.
- Robert J. Schmitz, 52, BS '84 agricultural economics, worked for Case Credit and Farm Credit Services before starting his own business, which he ran for 25 years. He was active in NDSU Team makers, Lions and was a volunteer fireman for the Grandin Fire Department. He lived in Gardner, North Dakota.
- Corby Heller, 49, BS '88 business administration, operated a family farm near Gardner, North Dakota. He also was a tax preparer for H&R Block. He lived in Gardner.
