Class Notes


  • Bob Dolbinski, BS ’84 architectural studies, reports his home was featured in the New York Times in the article, “A Cliffhanger in Pacific Palisades.” The house, located in the Rustic Canyon area, was built on a slope that angles down more than 45 degrees. He is a principal with the Moore Ruble Yudell architectural firm, Santa Monica, California.
  • Melissa D. Beach, BS ’07 mass communication, joined Dakota Heritage Bank as an agriculture and business banker in the Hillsboro, North Dakota, branch.
  • Karen Ryberg, PhD ’15 environment and conservation sciences, is a featured scientist in a U.S. Geological Survey publication, “A Snapshot of Women of the U.S. Geological Survey in STEM and Related Careers.” 
  • Kathryn Lenertz, MS ’01 educational administration, was named 2018 Administrator of the Year by the North Dakota Society for Health and Physical Educators. She is Dakota Elementary School principal in Minot, North Dakota.
  • Jeffrey Schafer, BS ’89 animal and range sciences, was elected vice president of the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association. He lives in New Rockford, North Dakota. His Rhein Valley Farm is a sixth-generation diversified farm and ranching operation.
  • Dan Rorvig, BS ’85 agricultural economics, was elected president of the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association. He manages a cow-calf herd, backgrounds yearlings and develops bred heifers near McVille, North Dakota, with his wife, Teresa.
  • Rachael Preusse, BS ’11 animal science, was recognized for five years of service to the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association. She is the organization’s brand recorder.
  • Nicholas Carlson, BS ’16 sport management, was promoted to solution analyst at Discovery Benefits, Fargo. 
  • Matthew Goecke, BS ’05 mass communication, was promoted to solution analyst at Discovery Benefits, Fargo. 
  • Abbey Monson, BS ’05 business administration, was promoted to director of vendor management and support at Discovery Benefits, Fargo.
