Class Notes


  • Jason Sauvageau, BS '01 hotel, motel, restaurant management, was promoted to key account manager at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota in Fargo. He began his career with the health care coverage provider in 2004 and joined the marketing department in 2005. He previously was promoted to coordinator/trainer in 2008 and then to team leader in marketing in 2011.
  • Jean Ostrom-Blonigen, BS ’98 management, PhD '13, communication, was named project administrator at NDSU for the North Dakota Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research. 
  • Kelsey (Dockter) Smith, BS ’06 business administration, was promoted to manager of Total Rewards in human resources at Noridian Mutual Insurance Co., Fargo. The company offers health care coverage as Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota as a licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. She joined the company in 2012 and was promoted to compensation analyst in 2013.
  • Harvey Lillestol, 80, BS’ 56 pharmacy, practiced pharmacy in Minnesota and New York, and owned the Medicine Chest in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. He lived in Alexandria, Minnesota. His family requests memorials be directed to the NDSU Development Foundation Lillestol Pharmacy Scholarship.
  • Sarah (Zimmerman) Willert, 84, BS ’62 zoology, worked in North Dakota as a licensed physical therapist in Grand Forks, Minot and Fargo. She was one of seven original physical therapists in the state. Later, she substitute taught in Minot. She lived in Minot.
  • Robert Gee, 88, BS ’51 agronomy, operated a dairy operation near Kragnes, Minnesota. Highly involved in community activities, he served on a variety of local, state and national boards. He also worked as Clay County Extension Agent for the University of Minnesota. He lived in Moorhead, Minnesota. 
  • Fred Boeshans Jr., 76, BS ’60 animal science, served as assistant county agent in Ward County before being drafted in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He returned to farming and then worked for Cenex/Harvest States/Land O’Lakes, retiring in 2002. He lived in Beulah, North Dakota. 
  • Larry Huckins, 73, MEd ’76 EdS ’86, education administration, was a high school administrator and coach in Montana and North Dakota. He lived in Amidon, North Dakota. 
  • Harold Snyder, 74, BS ’62 chemistry, worked for Ford Motor Co. for 19 years and retired from DuPont in 1991. He lived in Port Aransas, Texas.
  • Leonard Wolf, 86, BS ’56 general agriculture, worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, first as a soil conservationist and then as a loan appraiser in Killdeer, Wahpeton, Napoleon, Rolla, Fessenden and Dickinson, North Dakota. After retirement, he worked as the Billings County Tax Assessor. He lived in Centennial, Colorado.
