Class Notes


  • John A. Jackson, 85, BS ’55 arts and science, was a farmer near Leonard, North Dakota. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Chaffee Lions and Chaffee school board. He lived in Fargo.
  • Norma (Ellingson) Halverson, 90, Diploma ’48 Bismarck Hospital School of Nursing, worked at St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo and was full-time organist at First United Methodist Church for 36 years. She lived in Fargo.
  • Arthur Norby, 89, BS ’52 arts and science, worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 30 years. Later, he started a company to manufacture decorator telephones. After several years as a marketing consultant, he was one of the founders of the NWB Retiree Association and president of the National Retiree Legislative Network. He lived in Palm Desert, California.
  • John Beringer, 73, BS ’67 pharmacy, worked at Osco Drug in Fargo and later purchased Anderson Drug Store, Ellendale, North Dakota, and the Edgeley Prescription Shop. Jake retired in 2010. He lived in Ellendale. 
  • Merlyn Gunsch, 81, BS ’62 pharmacy, owned and operated the Rexall Drug Store in Malta, Montana, and the Seeley Lake Pharmacy in Seeley Lake, Montana. He then went to work for the Indian Health Service retiring in 2000. He was a Navy veteran who lived in Lewistown, Montana.
  • Sandra (Leland) Conzemius, 69, BS ’71 English, worked as a home selling agent for "Happythings," and in 1983 was named the National Sales Manager of the Year. Later, she became a store manager for "Christmas on the Mall" at West Acres until 2000. She lived in Fargo. 
  • Duane Koski, 83, BS ’59 electrical and electronics engineering, retired after 38 years as an electrical engineer with Lockheed Martin. He was an Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He lived in Burnsville, Minnesota.
  • Alice (Sorenson) Sedenquist, 78, BS ’61 home economics education, food and nutrition, was a homemaker and active in the Red River Lutheran Church. She lived in Hallock, Minnesota.
  • Theodore Grosz, 83, BS ’56 arts and science, worked in the insurance business for Western States Life Insurance Co. in Fargo. He lived in Fargo. 
  • William Julson Jr., 78, MEd ’72 educational administration, was an educator and administrator in several North Dakota schools. He taught mathematics in Fessenden and Casselton, was a principal in Rugby and was the superintendent at Linton and Mayville-Portland CG. He lived in Mayville.
