About our research

The CSP lab at North Dakota State University focuses on the short, long term, and transgenerational effects that environmental stress has on animals; mostly insects and other arthropods. Specifically, we study how stress exposure affects life history traits, energetics, and oxidative damage. We work with temperature, dehydration, starvation, varying oxygen environments, ionizing radiation (X-ray and UV), infection, and a few other stressors. We also focus on the other side of stress: hormesis; when exposures lead to improvements rather than harm.
