Nacophora quernaria (J. E. Smith 1797)
| Common name: Oak beauty.
Hodges #: 6763. Identification: Rfw 20.4 mm, fw venation trifid, hw with vein M2 absent, antennae pectinate to apex, proboscis atrophied, hind tibiae with apical spurs only, abdomen with dorsal tufts. Similar species: 6640, 6651, 8692. Distribution: southern Canada and U. S. east of the Rockies. Hosts: Larvae on a variety of deciduous trees: Quercus– oak, Prunus– wild cherry, Crataegus– hawthorn, Populus– aspen, Salix– willow, and Betula– birch.
