Phaneta olivaceana (Riley 1881)

Common name: listed here as ‘Olivaceous goldenrod borer.’

Hodges #: 2998.

Identification: Rfw 7.53 mm, fw pale yellow with fuscous pattern, proboscis without scales, tympanum absent.

Similar species: 3684, 3693, 3695, 9101.

Distribution: northern and temperate U. S. east of Great Plains.

Hosts: larvae bore in the stems of Solidago– goldenrod, possibly only S. flexicaulis L.– Broad-leaved goldenrod (as mapped).
