Ctenucha virginica (Esper 1794)

Common name: Virginia ctenucha.

Hodges #: 8262.

Identification: Rfw 22.5 mm, fws dark brown, hws black, both white fringed.

Similar species: 4624, 8267, 8273.1.

Distribution: central Canada and northern U. S. except Pacific coast. 

Hosts: Larvae feed on Poaceae– grasses, Cyperaceae-- sedges.  Also reported on Iris.
