Review and Summary

This web site supports a North Dakota State University (NDSU) course in farm and agribusiness management.  The site will continue to evolve as it is used.  Use the QUICK LINKS along the left edge of this site to locate the course outline/notes (Course Topics), brief discussions of relevant economic and management topics (Reference Topics), links to supporting web sites (Related Links), and information about contacting me (Contact Instructor).

The course also is supported by a web site in the NDSU learning management system (LMS) -- NDSU uses Blackboard at

https://bb.ndsu.nodak.edu/webapps/login/?new_loc=%2Fwebapps%2Fportal%2Fframeset.jsp. Visit this site for information about the course, such as the syllabus, announcements, and assignments.  Use the following steps to find the course materials.

  • Click on "View Course Catalog"
  • Click on "NDSU Blackboard Courses"
  • Click on "Agribusiness and Applied Economics" (my department)
  • Scroll to "Farm/Agribusiness Management II AGEC 342"; you may need to scroll to the second page to find the course
  • Click on link along the left edge of the screen that corresponds to course
  • You will see information about the course (I have tried to give "guest" access to as much of the course information as possible); this information is revised throughout the semester.

The course relies on Kay, Edwards and Duffy's  Farm Management, 6th ed. (used in AGEC 242). I encourage you to share the text with one or two classmates to reduce your costs.

  • Everyone does not need a copy of the text, but everyone needs access to the text.

The next web page (Course topics/outline) provides an overview of the course.
