Background, Goals and Objectives

The FEMA Emergency Management Institute (EMI) is hosting the 14th Annual Emergency Management Conference, June 6-9, 2011, for representatives of colleges and universities which (1) have an existing hazard, disaster, emergency management program in place, or (2) are attempting to develop and implement a hazard, disaster, emergency management program on their campus (e.g., a degree, certificate, minor, or concentration).  The conference will be held on the grounds of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s National Emergency Training Center (NETC) in Emmitsburg, Maryland – about 75 miles northwest of Washington, DC.

 

Background:  The annual Emergency Management Higher Education Project Conferences bring together academics representing colleges and universities which (1) have a hazard, disaster, emergency management or homeland security academic program in place, (2) are investigating or developing a hazard, disaster, emergency management or homeland security academic program, or (3) FEMA is seeking to interest in developing such a program.

Purpose of the IAEM Annual Conference

The IAEM Annual Conference provides a forum for current trends and topics, information about the latest tools and technology in emergency management and homeland security, and advances IAEM committee work. Sessions encourage stakeholders at all levels of government, the private sector, public health and related professions to exchange ideas on collaborating to protect lives and property from disaster. If you are an emergency manager, homeland security official, first response coordinator, private industry risk manager or contingency planner, you will not want to miss the IAEM 58th Annual Conference & EMEX 2010.

Natural Hazards Research and Application Workshop

Since 1975, the Natural Hazards Center has hosted the annual Natural Hazards Research and Applications Workshop involving close to 400 federal, state, and local emergency officials; representatives of nonprofit and humanitarian organizations; hazards researchers; disaster consultants; and others dedicated to alleviating the impacts of disasters.

World Conference on Disaster Management

Students interested in international emergency management and international relief will find this conference of particular interest.
