FEMA Higher Education Conference

The Federal Emergency Management Agency hosts an emergency management higher education conference each June for academics representing colleges and universities which (1) have a hazard, disaster, emergency management or homeland security academic program in place, (2) are investigating or developing a hazard, disaster, emergency management or homeland security academic program, or (3) FEMA is seeking to interest in developing such a program. IAEM Annual Conference

The IAEM Annual Conference provides a forum for current trends and topics, information about the latest tools and technology in emergency management and homeland security, and advances IAEM committee work. Sessions encourage stakeholders at all levels of government, the private sector, public health and related professions to exchange ideas on collaborating to protect lives and property from disaster. If you are an emergency manager, homeland security official, first response coordinator, private industry risk manager or contingency planner, you will not want to miss the annual conference. Natural Hazards Research and Application Workshop

Natural Hazards Research and Applications Workshop

Since 1975, the Natural Hazards Center has hosted the annual Natural Hazards Research and Applications Workshop involving close to 400 federal, state, and local emergency officials; representatives of nonprofit and humanitarian organizations; hazards researchers; disaster consultants; and others dedicated to alleviating the impacts of disasters. The International Research Committee on Disasters (IRCD) Researchers Meeting and a Natural Hazard Mitigation Association add-on meeting will immediately follow the main Workshop. The Conference and Researchers Meeting is typically in July. World Conference on Disaster Management

World Conference on Disaster Management (WCDM)

The World Conference on Disaster Management (WCDM) is held annually in the summer months. Students interested in international emergency management and international relief will find this conference of particular interest. According to the WCDM website, "The World Conference on Disaster Management (WCDM) is the pre-eminent conference of its kind - providing you with the opportunity to gain valuable education, training and best practices to assist you, your organization and your community mitigate, prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies and disaster."
