Message from President Cook Announcement of Vice President for Communications and Marketing

November 1, 2023

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kathryn Kloby to the position of Vice President for Communication and Marketing.  This role will have a significant impact on advancing the university and NDSU Transform in several key areas. Dr. Kloby will focus on growing enrollment using a multipronged approach to strengthen NDSU’s institutional voice, our marketing strategy and plan, and spearheading improvements to the university website in its overall design, navigation, and content. Dr. Kloby will energize partnerships by collaborating with communicators across the institution to synchronize messaging and improve internal communications, while also developing new and existing relationships with our community-based partners to identify and support new initiatives relevant to NDSU’s success.

Dr. Kloby was most recently the Associate Vice President for Strategic Communication at St. Cloud State University. In this role, she integrated internal communications and marketing strategies with SCSU’s strategic framework. She raised the institutional profile with significant expansion of SCSUs marketing portfolio, spearheaded the development of new campaign strategy, lifted the brand voice and refreshed SCSU’s brand guidelines. She brings experience with website modernization and has a strong track record of working closely with her colleagues in admissions and across campus to strengthen enrollment, retention and student success efforts. She also substantially improved SCSU’s media relations and processes for managing crisis responses and communications.  Her approach is informed by previous professional experiences that include serving as a faculty member and leader who supported shared governance and student success initiatives, and a coordinator of university and community partnerships. Kathryn is most excited to work with her colleagues in University Relations and to get to know our faculty, staff and students. She, her husband and their two children are ready to start their lives as Bison.  She will begin her leadership at NDSU on December 4.

I would like to extend my gratitude to the search committee for their dedicated time and effort and to the faculty, staff and students who participated in the search process.  Together, we were able to bring this campus leadership role into focus and conduct a successful search.

Please join me in welcoming Kathryn to NDSU!

Go Bison!

David Cook, President
