Jayla lives near Maddock/Esmond, ND with her husband, Jordan, and their three children — daughter Collins and sons Cameron and Colter. Their family also includes two German Shorthaired Pointers, Luna and Piper.
Outside of her role as the 4-H Program Assistant for the NDSU Extension Office in Benson County, Jayla also volunteers as a project leader with the Farm & Home Improvement 4-H Club — her daughter’s club. Recognizing a need for activities geared toward younger youth in the community, Jayla brought the Maddock Just For Kix dance program to town in the fall of 2022, where she serves as Head Instructor. She is also an active community volunteer, serving as an Emergency Medical Responder with both the Esmond Community Quick Response Unit and the Maddock Ambulance, as well as a certified AHA CPR instructor.
In addition to her professional and volunteer commitments, Jayla holds several leadership roles, including President/Secretary of the Esmond QRU Board, Vice President/Secretary of the Little Bobcats Daycare Board, Secretary of the Maddock Ambulance District Board, and board member of the Benson County Event Center Improvement Committee. She is also currently spearheading efforts with the newly formed Maddock Pool Board.
Jayla completed the NDSU Extension Master Gardener course in the spring of 2022 and became a certified Extension Master Gardener in 2024. She actively maintains her certification and enjoys sharing her knowledge of horticulture with others. A true plant enthusiast, Jayla cares for 38 houseplants at home — plus eight more that thrive in her Extension office.
