The following scholarship opportunities are external to NDSU, but NDSU is a participating institution in these nationally competitive scholarships. These opportunities each have their own specific requirements and application processes, so please be sure to review the information for each carefully.

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship Program

Open to sophomores and juniors in the STEM fields.
Applications due October 20, 2023.

Astronaut Scholarship Foundation

Open to full-time sophomores and juniors pursuing a STEM degree.
Nominee materials due March 11, 2024.

Harry S. Truman Scholarship

Open to full-time junior-level students who are planning to pursue a career in public service.
Application deadline: December 1, 2023.

Morris K. Udall Scholarship

Open to sophomores and juniors who either are committed to a career in environmental public policy or in the fields of health care or tribal public policy.
Application deadline: December 1, 2023.

U.S. Fulbright Student Program

Open to citizens or nationals of the U.S. who have an earned bachelor's degree or equivalent, and also who have competency in the language of the host country to which they are applying.
Application Deadline: August 15, 2024.

National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GFRP)

Open to graduate students in STEM fields, particularly in underrepresented groups.
Application Deadline: Mid-October 2023. (Deadline varies depending on division.)
