Two staff members have been honored for their contributions to the success of the NDSU College of Engineering.

Samantha Thompson, business coordinator in the College of Engineering, was named a 2025 Outstanding Staff Award winner for her diligence, precision and professionalism.

Colleagues say Thompson exemplifies what it means to be a dedicated and reliable team player, juggling complex responsibilities, supporting multiple faculty and students needs, and consistently approaching her work with a collaborative spirit and a commitment to excellence.

She was also instrumental in improving the college’s graduate assistant contract processing. Thompson worked diligently with the Graduate School on testing and creating an engineering contract and implementing the bulk send process for the college.

The College of Engineering’s other 2025 Outstanding Staff Award went to David Shaw, a professional academic advisor in the College of Engineering.

Nominated by both students and colleagues, Shaw was honored for his ability to connect with students on a personal level and his role in developing a more unified and student-focused advising framework.

Whether they are first-year freshmen, transfer students or individuals returning to education after time away, multiple students have said Shaw’s guidance was a deciding factor in their decision to enroll at NDSU.

Thompson and Shaw will be honored at the College of Engineering’s Scholarship and Awards Reception on Oct. 30.
