NDSU researchers among world’s top two percent most-cited scientists
This year, NDSU is represented by 29 researchers on the single-year list and 36 on the career-long list, including six faculty who are new to the career list this summer.

Researchers from NDSU are among the top 2% of the most cited scientists globally, according to the Science-wide Author Databases of Standardized Citation Indicators. The annual list, compiled by Stanford University and Elsevier, was released on Sept. 19.
The rankings highlight the most influential scientists across a wide range of disciplines, based on key citation metrics, including the h-index, co-authorship and adjusted citation counts. The database is updated annually and includes both single-year data (2024 for this edition) and career-long data to reflect the ongoing impact and relevance.
This year, NDSU is represented by 29 researchers on the single-year list and 36 on the career-long list, including six faculty who are new to the career list this summer.
“Being on the top scientist list is a testament to the level of expertise and productivity of our NDSU researchers,” said NDSU interim vice president for research and creative activity Heidi Grunwald. “Thank you for all your hard work. Congratulations on raising your individual profile as a world-renowned expert in your field. We thank you for being part of our community of scholars and for raising the international profile of NDSU.”
Inclusion on this prestigious list signifies global recognition of research excellence, further enhancing a scientist’s reputation within both academic and industry circles.
