Club-horned grasshopper

Adults

  • Antennae capitate (males) or clavate (females).
  • Face and abdomen with a black and white pattern.
  • Facial stripes follow sutures.
  • Lateral fovaeolae elongate-rectangular.
  • Tegmen of male oval and fenestrate along costal margin, usually with a white basal streak.
  • Tegmen of females ½ length of abdomen with a white basal streak.
  • Adults in late Spring and early Summer.
Nymphs
  • Face with vertical stripe pattern.
  • Elongate-rectangular foveola which are visible from above occur in no other early Spring nymphs.
  • Occur in early Spring.
