Adults

  • Black post-ocular stripe with lighter spots.
  • Pronotum not 'saddle-shaped,' metazona not angled upwards.
  • Male with ventral meso-sternal hump.
  • Hind femur banding variable, ventral surface yellow.
  • Hind tibia red.
  • Male cercus flattened, turned slightly upturned.
  • Subanal plate bi-lobed.
  • Furculae parallel, apex not more distad from mid-line than base.
  • Female cercus much narrower than in M. sanguinipes.
  • Ovipositor with weak dorsal tooth.
Nymphs
  • Hind femur with broken dark cross bands.
  • Post-ocular band and lateral crescent largely obsolete.
  • Eyes speckled and faintly banded (life).
