Identification key to the Notodontidae occurring in the Dakotas

4C.  (4)   Hindwing with veins Sc+R and Rs running parallel for the length of the discal cell and then
moderately divergent  Schizura, and Oligocentria species (Go to 4C1).

4C.'  Hw with vein Sc+R convergent with Rs near end of discal cell and then sharply divergent.
Macurocampa, Heterocampa and Lochmaeus species (Go to 4C4).  Note: couplet 4C4 is inserted to
easily separate one common economically important species, the same taxa and others are covered
if you Go to 4C6 directly.

Note- : Some species of Schizura exhibit a weak convergence of veins Sc+R and Rs and one species has these veins strongly divergent from
the end of the discal cell.  No Scizura species in our area exhibit both the strong convergence and then strong divergence of Sc+R and Rs.
