Catocala amica (Hübner 1818)

Common name: Girlfriend underwing.

Hodges#: 8878.

Identification: Rfw 18.9 mm. Lower half of frons glossy, only ND Catocala with black pm band absent from the dhw and present on vhw.

Similar species: 11012, 11012.1.

Distribution: Southern Canada, eastern U.S., southwestward to Arizona.

Hosts: Larvae feed on Quercus spp.– oaks, in ND, Q. macrocarpa Michx.– Bur oak.
