Neomenestheus Distant, 1911: 342-343. (syn. by Cassis & Gross, 2002)

Type Species: Eribotes: Sciocoris australis Dallas, 1852, by monotypy. Neomenestheus: Neomenestheus walkeri Distant, 1911, by monotypy.

Tribal Placement: Stål (1868) originally keyed this genus between Menestheus and Laprius. In 1876, Stål placed this genus between Menestheus and Aeptus. Lethierry & Severin (1893) catalogued it between Menestheus and Aeptus. Kirkaldy (1909) catalogued it in the tribe Aeptini, placing it between the genera Halyabbas and Belopis. Gross (1975) included this genus in his Menestheus group.

Comments: This genus is endemic to Australia.
