Type Species: Gonopsis: Gonopsis denticulata Amyot & Serville, 1843, by monotypy. Bessida: Bessida scutellaris Walker, 1868, by monotypy.
Tribal Placement: Ahmad (1981) included this genus in the Phyllocephalini. Linnavuori (1982) included this genus in his Lobopeltista group. This group does not have a formal name yet, so Gonopsis is maintained in the nominate tribe.
