Fall 2021 TRIO SSS Events and Workshops

We ask all SSS participants to monitor their emails for specific information regarding each event: dates, times, location, sign-up sheets, zoom links, etc. Notices on any changes to this schedule will be sent via email and posted to our social media pages.

If you plan to attend the Part-time Job Fair, Meet the Firms event, the Fall Career Expo, or the virtual career fair, you just might want to polish your resume. Perhaps you only need a resume critique for an internship or job application. Drop in between the designated hours to learn the do’s and don’ts to build your resume!

Money Mindset Workshop Presentation
Join our guest speaker from Simple Money Academy (Michael Pittman) to learn how to manage and master your money in a practical way. Have you ever wondered, "If I'm so smart, why aren't I rich yet? This session will teach you the mentality you must have if you want to build wealth and have financial independence. This will be a fun, interactive virtual presentation.

Leadership Development at Puzzled Escape Rooms
Search for clues, solve the puzzles and discover the mystery of the room. What skills does it take to escape the room? You might be surprised to learn that you will need the same skills most employers seek when hiring. It’s true. Sign up and join this activity to put your teamwork, leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills to the test. But, you must be fast because you only have 60 minutes to do it.

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Tour
Join this tour to learn how the USDA plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and abundance of our food supply. We will visit various research labs, learn about internship opportunities and meet several research and lab technicians. The USDA Agricultural Research Services conducts research on animal metabolism, insect genetics, sunflower and plant biology, cereal crops, and sugarbeet and potato.

Fargo Water Treatment Facility Tour
Interested in the treatment and purification of water? The City of Fargo invites all residents to visit the water treatment plant. Learn about the water treatment process and the various operations involved (physical, biological, chemical, and physicochemical). Learn how contamination is reduced or eliminated to maintain a clean supply of water suitable for human consumption.

Learn how to make better financial choices and informed decisions, as a consumer. Learn about financial products, such as credit and loans, and how they both work. Get prepared to manage finances after graduation.
