GED preparation and testing is not a service that the VET program provides directly. You normally would contact your local school district's adult learning services center, and links to the ones in our AOR are below.

 

In the Fargo, ND area

Contact the Fargo Adult Learning Center.  Free GED preparation classes (there is a fee to take the tests); a program of Fargo Public Schools. Classes start and run year-round.  

In the Grand Forks, ND area

Contact the Grand Forks Community High School's Adult Learning Center at (701) 795-2777 to schedule an orientation session or for more information.  Registration and testing for General Educational Development/Diploma (GED) and refresher skills classes are held on Fridays at 8:30 a.m. in room 9 at the ALC.

Classes and materials are free, but there are four tests required to complete your GED. The fee for each test is $30 ($120 total).

The Adult Learning Center is located in the North Dakota School for the Blind building, 500 Stanford Rd unit B, Grand Forks, ND 58203.

In the Bismarck, ND area

Contact the Bismarck Public Schools Adult Learning Center at (701) 323-4530, or e-mail alc_secretary@bismarckschools.org to get more information and pre-register.  GED students sign up for a series of four orientation and registration sessions, and each meeting lasts about 2 – 3 hours.  GED preparation sessions begin about every 6 weeks.  

Classes are free, but there is an initial registration fee of $50, and four tests are required to complete your GED; the fee for each is $30 ($120 total).

The Bismarck GED Testing Center is located in the Technical Center at 1200 College Drive on the campus of Bismarck State College. 

In the Devils Lake, ND area

Contact the Devils Lake Adult Learning Center at (701) 662-1536 for more information, or to set up an appointment for registration and enrollment.

GED preparation classes and testing are typically offered Mondays through Thursdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

There is no charge for classes or the materials you will use at the learning center.  Once you are ready for the official tests (four are required for GED completion), they will cost $30 each.

The Devils Lake Adult Learning Center is located in the main building of Lake Region State College, 1801 College Drive, Devils Lake, ND 58301.

In the Minot, ND area

Contact the Minot Adult Learning Center at (701) 857-4488, or by e-mail at malc@minot.k12.nd.us for more information or to arrange a GED preparation course registration appointment. 

The Minot Adult Learning Center is located at 1609 4th Ave NW in Minot, just west of Oak Park.

In the Williston, ND area

Contact the Adult Learning Center at Williston State College at (701) 774-4221 or -6236 to arrange free GED test preparation classes.

Four tests are required to complete your GED, and each test costs $30 (total of $120).

In the Dickinson/Bowman/Beulah, ND area

To get started on your GED, contact the Dickinson Adult Learning Center at (701) 456-0008, or by e-mail at dickinsonalc@dpsnd.org to arrange an appointment for initial testing or to get more information.  Registration takes place approximately every eight weeks.

Registration fee for all new students is $30, and students must call for an appointment to register and take the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) placement test.  Four tests are required to complete your GED, and each test costs $30 (total of $120).

The Dickinson ALC is now located at 402 4th Street West in Dickinson, in what was formerly known as Hagen Junior High. To access the ALC, please use Door #3 on the North side of the building, and take the stairs or elevator to the 3rd floor. Satellite locations run in Beulah and Bowman, North Dakota.

In the Moorhead, MN area

Contact the Moorhead Adult Basic Education Program.  FREE classes for adult learners to improve basic math skills, reading, prepare for a GED, or improve skills and knowledge to improve your employability.  Day, Evening, and Online classes are offered.  A service of Moorhead Area Public Schools.

**Need a copy of your GED transcript sent to a college, or a copy of your diploma?  If it was completed anywhere in North Dakota, fill out and send in this form to request your GED transcript be sent to your school, or a replacement diploma sent to you.  Otherwise, contact your state's department of public instruction.
