The North Dakota Extension Disaster Education Network (ND EDEN), along with the NDSU Extension Disaster Response Team, would like to invite you to save the date for an upcoming training titled: Disaster Table Top Exercise: Wet Feet and Worry, A flood protection, mitigation, response, and recovery exercise. A poster is attached.
This day-long training will be hosted in Bismarck at the North Dakota State Capitol in the Brynhild Haugland Room on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. We will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude by 3 p.m. CT.
NDSU Extension, County Emergency Managers, and Disaster Responders are invited to join us for a day of disaster incident command professional development. This hands-on day will include scenario-based learning and discussion with facilitators from Montana State University, Texas A&M University and the National Extension Disaster Education Network.
If you think you should not attend because the scenario will be based around a flood, please know that all the techniques and concepts learned through this training can be applied to any disaster.
There are 15 training objectives and capabilities, so all preparation, response and recovery areas will be covered. A few of the objectives and capabilities include:
- Discuss county activities with participants on the mitigation, response, and recovery process during a river or flash flooding incident. (Capability = Planning/Preparation)
- Discuss the roles and responsibilities of county, state, and federal authorities, and Extension agents during a coordinated multi-agency and multi-disciplinary response (Capability = Operational Coordination)
