Positive Indian Parenting
Positive Indian Parenting (PIP) is a program created to help Native families reconnect with and apply traditional parenting practices in today’s world. Together, we’ll explore cultural teachings and learn how to use them in everyday life. As a participant, you’ll experience the wisdom of the storyteller and discover how oral traditions can strengthen communication with your children. You’ll also learn about the teachings of the cradleboard—symbols of nurturing and protection—and how these lessons can guide your parenting today. PIP also explores traditional approaches to behavior and discipline, emphasizing the development of self-discipline, a value deeply rooted in Native cultures. This program empowers you to make your own choices—deciding what teachings to reclaim and how to integrate them into your life in ways that feel right for you and your family.
