NDSU Bison Strides to host Horse Powered Reading camps in August

North Dakota State University Bison Strides will host four half-day Horse Powered Reading camps on Aug. 17 to 20 for youth ages 5 to 12.

Alongside their equine partners, participants will help create obstacle courses, groom and lead horses, and learn to strengthen their reading skills through horse-centered activities. The camps are held at the NDSU Equine Center in Fargo, North Dakota.

Bison Strides programs partner horses and humans to build self-confidence, strength, mindfulness and independence.

“These camps are a great opportunity to introduce youth to horses,” says Erika Berg, Bison Strides program director. “It's a unique opportunity to connect with horses in an engaging and supportive environment.”

Camps for ages 5 to 8 are held Aug. 17 from 1-4 p.m. or Aug. 20 from 9 a.m. to noon. For ages 9 to 12, camps are Aug. 18 from 9 a.m. to noon or Aug. 19 from 1-4 p.m.
