Class Notes


  • David Clouston, BS ’90 political science, earned selection in “The Best Lawyers in America,” based on nominations from his peers. He is a securities law attorney for Sessions Fishman Nathan and Israel, Dallas. It is his ninth consecutive appearance in the annual publication.
  • Kira Schumaker, BS ’14 finance, joined Sterling Management LLC as a financial accountant.
  • Kyle Emanuel, BS ’14 construction management, signed with the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders. He had earlier played in 63 games with the Los Angeles Chargers, but sat out the 2019 season before deciding to return.
  • Gregory C. Smith, BS ’86 civil engineering, was appointed to the board of regents for Rose State College, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, by Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt. He is the site lead for Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems, Oklahoma City.
  • Zachary Bisek, BArch ’04 architecture, joined the partner team of Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture, Denver and Dallas. His projects at the firm include the REC of Grapevine, Grapevine, Texas; Center of Recreational Excellence, Hobbs, New Mexico; Moorhead Recreation Center, Aurora, Colorado; and several Colorado Parks and Wildlife projects.
  • Dain Sullivan, BS ’11 journalism, joined Gate City Bank, Fargo, as a senior content strategist.
  • Danielle Nygren, BS ’13 civil engineering, was selected by Zweig Group as a 2020 Rising Star in multidiscipline engineering. She works at Westwood Professional Services Inc., Minnetonka, Minnesota, and leads project’s for the firm’s top wind client. The honor recognizes professionals 40 years old or younger who demonstration exception technical capability, leadership skills, effective teaching or research and public service.
  • Carol Tuntland, BS ’65 textiles and clothing, has written “Henrietta: Promises in the Sky,” published by LifeRich Publishing. The book tells the story of her late mother’s life.
  • Marisa Haman, BS ’04 apparel and textiles, is the new auditor/treasurer for Ward County in North Dakota. She is the former deputy auditor and takes over for Devra Smestad, who is retiring. Haman joined the office in 2012.
  • Martin Henry Peterson, BS ’14 agricultural economics, was elected alumni board president for Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, and started a new job with Red River State Bank, Fertile, Minnesota, as an agricultural and commercial loan officer.
