Integument

 The integument is the protective covering of the body. It includes the skin and other structures such as hair, feathers, scales, horns, hooves and claws.

General Terminology

Functions of the integument

The skin is the largest body organ.

The hoof of the horse is a highly specialized integumentary structure

The claw of the dog/cat is similar to, but much simpler than the hoof of the horse.
