Simple Epithelia

 
Simple Squamous Epithelium
These epithelial cells are flat and smooth. They look a lot like tiny fried eggs.

Simple squamous epithelium (vein)

 

Simple Cuboidal Epithelium
These epithelial cells are taller and somewhat "marshmallow" shaped.

Simple cuboidal epithelium (kidney)

 

Simple Columnar Epithelium

These epithelial cells are tall cylinders arranged like chalk in a box.

Simple columnar epithelium (intestine)

 

Pseudostratified Columnar Epithelium

These epithelial cells are irregular in shape. The various positions of their nuclei make it look like there are multiple layers of cells.
