Taste

Taste is a chemical sense. The receptors are located in tiny "taste buds" which are located primarily on certain papillae of the tongue.

Dissolved chemical substances enter the taste bud through the tiny "taste pores." Hair-like microvilli from gustatory cells detect the substances and generate nerve impulses that are interpreted by the brain as tastes.
