The FORWARD project is sponsoring a promotion-to-professor luncheon on Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Memorial Union Arikara room. Registration is requested and can be completed at www.ndsu.edu/forward.

A panel of current and past department chairs will discuss the promotion-to-full-professor process and how to determine when you are ready. Panelists include Jim Deal, human development and family science; William Bowlin accounting, finance and information systems; Brian Slator, computer science; and Greg Lardy, animal sciences. They will discuss how to describe scholarship in different disciplines, the role mentoring plays in helping an associate professor prepare for promotion, how to determine when an associate professor is ready to apply for promotion and the professional importance of promotion to full professor.

Virginia Clark Johnson, dean of human development and education, and Larry Peterson, professor of history, philosophy and religion, will facilitate the discussion. The next promotion-to-professor session will be Tuesday, Nov. 22, and will be a working meeting on promotion to professor and work/life balance.
