Curriculum

Prerequisite Requirements

Students should have basic proficiency in the following subject areas before completing their MBA core courses:

Accounting
Economics
Finance
Management
Marketing
Statistics

Proficiency is based upon academic and professional experience, as determined by review of the applicant's transcripts and resume. Applicants deficient in any subjects may be required to complete an online, self-paced course module to achieve foundational proficiency. Module completion is not required for admission but should occur prior to enrollment in the MBA core course for which it serves as a prerequisite.

MBA Courses

The MBA requires a total of 30 credits for degree completion, combining core courses in areas such as accounting, finance, management, marketing, and operations, with a wide variety of elective course options tailored to students' experience, interests, career goals, and scheduling needs.

Evening and online course options support working professionals in their pursuit of advanced education without disrupting their careers.

Financial Assistance

Graduate assistantship opportunities within the College of Business are very limited. All MBA students are admitted without funding.

There may be case-by-case opportunities to apply for graduate assistantship positions after having gained admission to the program, but they are not guaranteed. Current MSBA students and those admitted by February 1 may apply for department GA positions for fall semester, if available. Current students receive priority consideration over newly-admitted/incoming students.

Students also may search and apply for relevant graduate service assistantships through NDSU's Handshake platform. Status as an admitted or current student with an NDSU.edu email account is required in order to view NDSU positions in Handshake.

College of Business graduate student scholarships also are quite limited.

We do not offer scholarships to new/incoming students.

Current graduate students may apply for scholarships by submitting the general university scholarship application during the application window between November 1 and March 1 each year. Current students who submit the scholarship application and are selected for an award will see it apply to their account during the following academic year.

Many companies provide educational benefits to their employees in the form of tuition reimbursement or other financial support. We encourage students who plan to working as benefitted employees during their graduate studies to speak with their supervisor and/or Human Resources department to see if such a program exists for them.

U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens may qualify to be considered for federal student aid by completing the FAFSA. Questions regarding financial aid should be directed to NDSU's One Stop office.
