General Session

Beyond Ready: Every Piece Matters
Every piece has a purpose. Every volunteer makes an impact. You are a piece of something bigger. Together, we’re building young people who are Beyond Ready for life, work and every Next Chapter.

Session 1

(Participants will choose one workshop for each session)

Putting the Fair Pieces Together
Piece together the FairEntry puzzle with practical tips on where to enter exhibits, useful tools and strategies for navigating the system. We’ll also explore how Achievement Days and fairs fit into the bigger picture of youth development, as well as the lifelong skills gained along the way.

A Piece of the Puzzle – Catch Me If You Can: Carbon Edition (STEM)
Piece together the science behind carbon capture and storage! Explore how carbon dioxide is stored underground right here in North Dakota through hands-on STEM activities. Try the activities, discover how to facilitate them with youth and learn how your county can use ready-to-go kits to complete the puzzle.

Finding the Missing Piece: Volunteers and 4-H Camp
Explore the variety of camping opportunities available to North Dakota 4-H youth and discover how volunteers are an important piece of the puzzle in making camp successful. Together, we’ll build a rocket and blast off into the 2027 camping season, discovering how volunteers can help create engaging, meaningful and successful camping experiences for 4-H youth.

Session 2

(Participants will choose one workshop for each session)

Experiences for Older Youth: A Puzzling Problem
Ever ask older youth what they want and get the “Gen Z stare” followed by, “I don’t know”? Learn how to help older members find their voice, build motivation and take ownership of the pieces that make meaningful programs fit. Walk away with strategies for creating experiences that are engaging, relevant and—no cap— what youth actually want.

The Perfect Fit: Mental Management in Shooting Sports
Your mind is an important piece of the performance puzzle! Explore how mindset, confidence, visualization and self-talk influence shooting performance. Learn practical strategies to help youth manage pressure, distractions, mistakes and nerves while building mental skills that fit together both on and off the range.

Creating a Master Piece
County staff and volunteers are both important pieces of the 4-H puzzle. Learn how to build strong working relationships with your Extension county staff and committees, communicate concerns and ideas productively, and work together to navigate challenges and advocate for positive change. Discover how collaboration — not competition — helps create a stronger 4-H program.
