Get these meetings on your calendar: NDSU Extension workshops and webinars enhance your bottom line
With this being Christmas week, the Carrington Research Extension Center Director and Staff wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Once we ring in the New Year, it’s time to start attending Extension meetings in January. With commodity prices on the low side and many input prices higher, especially fertilizer, attending as many Extension meetings as possible will help you dial in which inputs, crop varieties and hybrids, and feed decisions will make you the most profit in 2026.
The first big 2026 NDSU Extension meeting is the Lake Region Roundup January 7 and 8 at the Devils Lake Memorial Building. The meeting starts at 8:45 a.m. both days and includes a free breakfast each day! Presentation topics include agronomy, economics, human health, and horticulture. The NDSU and University of Minnesota Soil Management Summit + DIRT Conference will be held January 14 and 15 at the Delta Hotel in Fargo. Farmers, Extension personnel, and other agriculturalists will be speaking about all things soil. The annual Wild World of Weeds Workshop will take place January 20 starting at 7:30 a.m. at the NDSU FargoDome. Featured speaker this year is Aaron Hager from the University of Illinois Weed Science Department, discussing everything about waterhemp. The 2026 Soil Water Workshop will be held January 21 at the NDSU FargoDome starting at 7:30 a.m. This workshop will focus on the latest information on soil, water, and fertilizer management in North Dakota. Sugarbeet and dry bean organizations have planned the International Sugarbeet and Dry Bean Expo for January 21 and 22 at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks. The annual Advanced Crop Advisers Workshop for farmers, agronomists and Extension personnel will be held January 27 and 28 at the Fargo Holiday Inn This year there will be a special panel discussion entitled, “Make Every Input Count in 2026.” Economists, Extension Specialists, and a crop consultant will discuss what the most important and economical agronomic inputs will be for the 2026 growing season.
