Graduate Students Present Integrated Crop Livestock Research at NDSU Field Days

Josh Wianecki and Katrina Kratzke, two graduate students advised by Dr. Miranda Meehan, presented their work at the 2025 Central Grasslands Research Extension Center field day. The students kicked off the NDSU field day season speaking about their ongoing research on integrating livestock into cropping systems.

Josh and Dr. Meehan shared an overview of cover crop grazing using virtual fencing technologies and the impacts of intensive grazing practices. Katrina and Dr. Meehan discussed their findings on grazing winter cereal cover crops within a corn and soybean rotation.

Both emphasized the benefits of integrated livestock systems on production economics, soil health and agricultural resiliency.
