HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer is a growing public health concern in the United States, with significant implications for patients, families, and healthcare systems. Join Dr. Katharine Price, a leading clinician in oropharyngeal cancer, and Jason Mendelsohn, also known as SupermanHPV, as they explore the impact of HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer. Dr. Price will discuss the epidemiology and burden of disease in the United States and the evidence supporting HPV vaccination as an effective prevention strategy. Jason Mendelsohn will share his personal experience as a survivor, offering insight into the physical, emotional, and quality-of-life challenges of living with HPV-associated cancer. This webinar highlights the importance of prevention, early awareness, and patient-centered care.

About the Speakers

Katharine A. Price, M.D., is a medical oncologist at Mayo Clinic who specializes in treating patients with cancers of the head and neck, including squamous cell cancers of the upper aerodigestive tract and salivary gland cancers. Dr. Price's primary research interests include new, deintensified treatments for patients with throat (oropharyngeal) cancer related to human papillomavirus (HPV). She also investigates new therapies for patients with squamous cell cancer of the head and neck, treatments for salivary gland cancer, and cancer survivorship. Dr. Price is also interested in health equity and is working to improve access to cancer screening and treatment for diverse patient populations and awareness of the importance of HPV vaccination to prevent cancer.

Jason Mendelsohn is co-founder and president of Ashar Group, LLC, a nationally licensed firm specializing in life insurance policy valuation and life settlements. Outside of his professional role, he is a stage IV HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer survivor and patient advocate focused on prevention and early detection. He serves as co-chair of the Patient Education Committee for the Head and Neck Cancer Alliance and publicly shares his cancer journey to raise awareness about HPV-related oral cancer, oral cancer screenings, and the HPV vaccine. Jason is the founder of SupermanHPV.com, a resource created to educate, inspire, and support patients and families affected by HPV-related cancers. He is passionate about prevention and is dedicated to ensuring future generations are protected from HPV-related disease.
