Activity Description

After completing this module, participants will be able to:

  • Identify common vaccine side effects and explain why they occur, their typical duration, and the risks associated with alternative or delayed schedules.
  • Describe key principles of evaluating scientific evidence, including study designs, the importance of control groups, and the distinction between correlation and causation.
  • Describe common misconceptions about the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) and explain its intended purpose, benefits, and limitations.
  • Summarize the history and function of the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (NVICP), including its objectives, covered vaccines, and relevance to vaccine safety policy.

Continuing Education

This module is approved for 1 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM, or a certificate of completion for individuals who do not need CME credit. Each participant may only claim credit once per module. The post-test must be completed to earn credit.

Post-Test and Evaluation

To earn CME credit or a certificate of completion, all four module videos must be watched in full. After viewing all videos, please complete the post-test that corresponds to the type of credit you wish to claim. Each participant may claim credit or a certificate only once for completing this module. The post-test is required to receive credit or a certificate.
