North Dakota State University's cybersecurity programs draw on the knowledge and expertise of numerous talented individuals within and external to NDSU.  This page lists individuals who have volunteered to advise us on program and course composition and content.  Our goal is to include individuals ranging from those doing hands on work with relevant technologies to executive-level leaders.  The members are listed in alphabetical order by last name.

Mark Hagerott, Ph.D.

Chancellor, North Dakota University System

Dr. Mark Hagerott is the Chancellor of the North Dakota University System.  Prior to his move back home to North Dakota, Dr. Hagerott served on the faculty and held numerous academic leadership roles at the United States Naval Academy. He also served as a planning and strategy director in one of the largest U.S. Army educational organizations, NATO Training Mission, which included the Afghanistan army, police, air force, and medical school programs. Hagerott served as distinguished professor and deputy director of the Center for Cyber Security Studies at the Naval Academy and served on the Defense Science Board summer study of unmanned systems.

Tim is a Penetration tester who specializes in network and physical penetration testing. Tim is based out of Fargo where he speaks at a number of regional conferences, operates a lock pick and physical penetration testing village, and fosters cybersecurity education.

Mike Saunders has over 25 years in IT and information security working in the ISP, financial, insurance, and agribusiness industries. He is an experienced conference speaker, speaking at both regional and national conferences.  Mike holds the GCIH, GPEN, GWAPT, GMOB, CISSP, and OSCP certifications.

Marc Wallman

Vice President for Information Technology, North Dakota State University

Marc Wallman has served as vice president for information technology since October 2014. Marc leads the NDSU Information Technology Division in efforts to deliver core solutions and propel innovation to benefit teaching, learning and outreach. He engages with those who foster vision and strategic discussions of information technology-enabled solutions, and leads all operations of the IT Division to support the mission of North Dakota State University and other institutions within the North Dakota University System that are served by the division.

Jerry Wynne

Vice President of Security, CISO, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota

Jerry Wynne has been working in Security for over 25 years, the last 15 years with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota.  While working for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota he has served in a variety of roles including Director of Security and Privacy, Government contractual named security officer, and as Vice President of Security, CISO where he oversees a staff of over 50 dedicated security personnel. As one of the earliest dedicated security employees for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota Jerry was one of the key designers securing legacy IT systems and is one of the designers of the new security systems being implemented for new risks today. Jerry Wynne is certified as a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP), and Certified in Risk and Information System Control (CRISC).
