‘Community is at the heart of NDSU’

At NDSU, you will be a part of a supportive campus and strong student body.

The caring atmosphere at NDSU created a memorable experience for Senior English and journalism major Max Borman.

“No professor is inaccessible. It has not felt like a solo climb up a large mountain, but a team effort,” said Borman, who is from Minneapolis. “NDSU makes you feel like you’re not alone. That is truly amazing.”

Borman has found the NDSU environment encouraging: professors have helped every step of the way. “There will be times when you need help, and you can always count on the faculty. If I was struggling, professors were there to pick me up,” he said. “If I needed guidance, they were there to guide me. Even when it had nothing to do with the class.”

Borman’s career goal is to become a scriptwriter or author. Experience in two NDSU academic departments has given Borman the skills and knowledge to advance in his field.

He’s also grateful for the lasting relationships he has enjoyed at NDSU. He worked at the Spectrum student newspaper and NDSU Dining.

Borman describes NDSU as unique with a strong sense of belonging. “Community is at the heart of NDSU,” he said. “At NDSU, you feel like you are actually a part of a strong close-knit family.”
