Dusek named NDSU Director of Agricultural Data Services for Ag Analytics Team

Frank Casey, NDAES associate director and NDSU Food, Energy and Water Security lead, has announced that Nick Dusek has been named the Director of Agricultural Data Services for NDSU’s Agricultural Data Analytics team.
Dusek’s addition strengthens the Agricultural Data Analytics team by expanding its capacity to deliver specialized data services and analytical support. He will lead bioinformatics initiatives, advanced data analyses, and project-based or ad hoc services tailored to specific NDAES research needs, including data acquisition, processing, analysis, and interpretation, and security.
The position will be partially funded through the FEWS initiative through cooperative agreements.
Ana Heilman-Morales continues to lead the Agricultural Data Analytics Products team, which delivers the shared data infrastructure that supports research across NDAES. The team designs, develops, and maintains scalable, long-term solutions—including data pipelines, databases, query systems, IoT integrations, and software applications—that enable efficient, reproducible, and sustainable research workflows.
“Together, Data Services and Data Products will enhance our ability to support NDAES research by pairing specialized analytical expertise for individual projects with robust, reusable systems for ongoing programs,” Casey said.
Dusek arrives at the new position after serving as assistant director of NDSU’s Center for Computationally Assisted Science and Technology. He holds a Ph.D. in statistics.
The NDSU Food, Energy and Water Security initiative receives funding from the USDA-ARS.
